Daughters of Grace Series: The Sinful Woman & The Woman With the Issue of Blood

Last week we continued a study from the Daily Grace Co. called Daughters of Grace. We talked about The Woman of Samaria, her story, characteristics, and what we can learn from her life. This week we are talking about The Sinful Woman found in Luke 7:36-49 and the Woman with the Issue of Blood found in Matthew 9:20-22, Mark 5:25-34, and Luke 8:43-48.

If you would like a link to purchase the study we are reading from, click here. You may also head over to our Facebook Page and watch the live video from 4/19/22 if you would like to just listen to what the book reads and follow along.

The Sinful Woman

1. What do we learn about God and His character in the life of the sinful woman?

In this story we learn that God's love knows no boundaries and that His forgiveness is given freely, no matter how big our sins or our debt to Him. Jesus shows His character of never ending mercy and equality of His love.

2. What character qualities, positive or negative, do we see demonstrated in the life of the sinful woman?

  • sinful
  • giving/selfless
  • humble
  • worshipper
  • forgiven

3. What can I learn from the sinful woman's story that I can apply to my own life?

That there is no debt too large for our Savior to forgive! It does not matter what our past looks like or what bad decisions we have made- when we make the decision to fall before the Lord, He honors that, forgives us, and gives us peace.

The Woman with the issue of Blood:

1. What do we learn about God and His character in the life of the woman with the issue of blood?

That He is powerful and all knowing! And even though He is all knowing, He still cares for each of us.

2. What character qualities, positive or negative, do we see demonstrated in the life of the woman with the issue of blood?

  • unclean (Lev. 15:25-27)
  • lonely
  • tired
  • faithful
  • fearful
  • humble
  • determined/desperate

3. What can I learn from the story of the woman with the issue of blood that I can apply to my own life?

  • It can be good for others to hear and see acts of faith
  • Move out of faith

The lives of both of these women demonstrate something beautiful about the character of Jesus. His ministry was and is one welcoming of those who are unwanted, outcast, unclean, and generally avoided by others. Jesus not only welcomed a sinful woman and an unclean woman to touch Him, but He healed and forgave them against all cultural and social boundaries. Jesus didn't avoid these "outcasts" within society. He welcomed their touch, He met their gaze, and He called them forgiven.
