You are a Daughter of the King Bible Study
Every Tuesday night on Facebook, I lead a Bible Study and show new arrival products. I am going to start uploading the studies we do each Tuesday onto our blog for those who could not make it to the live video Bible Study! A couple of weeks ago, we talked about what it means to be a Daughter of the King.
What does this mean, to be a Daughter of the King?
It means so much more than just a "feel-good" title or phrase. It is your identity of who you are in Christ, something so many of us struggle with. It is a gift and a responsibility and it is a blessing (something we cannot earn). Because it is a responsibility, it is something that requires our praise, thankfulness, and for us to take on the task of fulfilling the calling on our lives. God calls His followers to spread His word (amongst other responsibilities we have as Christians).
Luke 12:48 ESV says, "But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more."
This passage in Luke very clearly outlines the burden that the responsibility of being a Daughter of the King places on our life. He doesn't write this to scare or deter us, but to make clear the understanding that we, as God's children, have been given so many blessings and have been entrusted with His kingdom. Like I said earlier, being a Daughter of the King is not a term just to make you feel lofty. It carries the weight of being royalty and having kingdom duties on behalf of your Father. You might be the only Bible people every see. This means you should live in ways that honor God, show His good light, and to love others like Jesus would.
What verses actually say we are Daughter of the King?
"And I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty." 2 Corinthians 6:18
"Hear, O daughter, and consider, and incline your ear: forget your people and your father's house, and the king will desire your beauty. Since he is your lord, bow to him." Psalm 45:10-11
This verse in Psalms is not referring to us as Daughters of God in the way we see in the New Testament, but this verse is telling us to leave the things of this world behind and that God will desire our beauty. This isn't talking about our outward appearance, but rather the inner beauty of our heart. Like we see in 1 Samuel 16:7, "Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the LORD sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart".
What has the Lord affirmed in you, as a Daughter of the King?
1. You are LOVED
2. You are CHOSEN
3. You are KNOWN
4. You are CHERISHED
5. You are FOUND
6. You are FORGIVEN
